A second view of Skomvær, the lighthouse island in Norway's Lofoten where my great-grandmother Trull lived from 1896 to 1900, from the same watercolour series, Föreställningar om Lofoten / Imagining Lofoten.

Where the companion piece is calm, this one is turbulent: streaks of violet, rose and gold torn through dark storm clouds over the same small silhouette of rock and light. I painted it to hold both moods that her diary described, the beauty and the isolation, side by side.

This is a museum-quality canvas print reproduction of my original watercolour painting, hand-stretched and ready to hang, no framing needed (or choose a solid wood oak or black frame).

Materials: Cotton canvas, archival pigment ink, solid wood frame (optional)

About the image

These are high-quality prints of original watercolour paintings. One of the unique charms of watercolour is its natural variation: subtle irregularities, uneven washes and other traces of the original painting process are part of the medium’s character.

I have deliberately chosen not to alter or digitally retouch the original paintings when preparing these prints. The prints therefore preserve the natural character and imperfections of the original watercolour. These are not defects, but part of what makes each painting unique.
